Bromley were on the wrong end of a 7-2 demolition by Sheffield Wednesday in a League One fixture this week. The London club conceded seven times at Hillsborough in a result that leaves them eighth in the table with four points from two games.

Henrik Pedersen's Owls blew the Ravens away with a ruthless performance. Callum Slattery opened the scoring for the hosts in the seventh minute. Mason Burstow, who is on loan at Wednesday, added a second just after the half-hour mark. Jamal Lowe made it three on the stroke of half time, putting the game firmly out of Bromley's reach before the interval.

The onslaught continued after the break. Louie Barry scored twice to extend Sheffield Wednesday's lead to five goals. Jamal Lowe then grabbed his second of the match for the home side's sixth. Gabriel Otegabyo headed in a seventh for Wednesday, with the assist coming from Kieran Morrison.

Bromley's two consolations came from a Victor Adeboyejo penalty and an unfortunate own goal by Sheffield Wednesday's Gabriel Otegabyo. Visiting supporters were reported to have engaged in sarcastic celebrations after these late strikes. Shamal George was in goal for Bromley, while Joe Lumley kept net for the victorious Owls alongside outfield players like Billy Mitchell and Barry Bannan.

This heavy defeat is a significant setback for Bromley's early season form. The club now sits eighth in the League One standings with four points. Their record reads one win, one draw, and zero losses from their opening two fixtures, with a recent form of draw-win. They have scored two goals and conceded one across those matches, giving them a positive goal difference of one. They are currently two points behind the league leaders, Bradford City.

Attention must quickly turn to the next challenge. Bromley have little time to dwell on this result as they prepare for another home fixture. Their next match is against Leyton Orient at Hayes Lane on Tuesday, September 1st. Orient are currently tenth in the table, making it a key early-season encounter. A positive response will be required to get the season back on track after this heavy loss.

The full schedule of upcoming games is available on our fixtures list. Managerial staff will also be reviewing the squad options available to them for the quick turnaround.
