Bromley were beaten 3-2 by Wigan Athletic in a League One match on Saturday. The defeat extends their winless run to five games and leaves them in 22nd place in the table on just nine points from 12 games, having recorded only two wins and three draws all season.
Kamari Antonio Grant gave the visitors a shock lead after just six minutes, but Wigan responded with goals from Christian Saydee and K'Marni Miller to turn the game around. George Saville levelled for Bromley deep into first-half stoppage time, only for Bradley Burrowes to score what proved to be the winner for the hosts just before the hour mark.
How the match unfolded
Grant's early strike, his first of the season, provided a perfect start for Byron Webster's side. Wigan's pressure told, however, with Connor Barrett providing two assists. His cross was headed home by Saydee in the 18th minute, and he set up Miller to fire in from the edge of the box five minutes later. Bromley showed resilience, with Saville smashing in a loose ball to make it 2-2 at the break.
The decisive moment came in the 58th minute. Barrett was again the provider, finding Burrowes who finished from close range. Bromley made a flurry of substitutions in search of another equaliser, introducing Richard Taylor, Ethon Archer and Victor Adeboyejo, but they could not find a way past goalkeeper J. Whitworth again.
Where this leaves Bromley
The loss means Bromley have taken just one point from their last five league matches. Their recent form of no wins, one draw and four losses includes a 4-1 defeat at Milton Keynes Dons and a 1-1 home draw with Peterborough. They have now lost their last two games. They are now 16 points adrift of leaders Huddersfield Town.
Discipline was also an issue at the DW Stadium, with Bromley players receiving five yellow cards, including one for Saville for dissent in stoppage time. Wigan had two players booked.
Bromley's next match is in the FA Cup against Rotherham United at Hayes Lane on Saturday, 7 November. Their next league fixture is at home to Notts County, who are 19th, on Saturday 14 November.
